E3 2002: Need for Speed: HP2 impressions

I decided to stroll over to the Logitech booth, say 'hi' to a friend and check out a few peripherals. I saw a cabinet (complete with a chair and the GT Force wheel) showing off EA's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. The game played very similarly to the original Hot Pursuit, not as slow and 'draggy' feeling as the two following NFS titles. I was definitely able to sense the speed of the game. I was racing in a forest area, complete with sharp turns, split roads, and shortcuts -- everything NFS tracks are known for. I had a Ferrari 355, and the vehicle was complete with a great damage model. All in all, I enjoyed what I saw, and I suggest looking forward to the release of this racing beauty. The police AI is great and relentless. NFS: HP2 hits shelves this Summer. Keep your eyes open.
