E3 2002: RPG Maker 2 announced

Agetec announced today that they will be releasing the second addition of RPG Maker to the Playstation 2. Known for publishing the Armored Core series, Agetec hopes to improve upon its Designer Series with RPG Maker 2. The game allows players to build their own turn-based combat RPG, with detailed controls for the scripting of events, monster encounters, and dialogue. Keyboard support will be available through the PS2's USB port for easy accessibility. RPG Maker 2 features a 3D fantasy world with a more complex toolset than the original. The new toolset includes character generators, background editors, special effects editors, text editors, and monster generators.

"RPG Maker 2 gives players their first opportunity to prove themselves as 3D game designers," said Sullivan. "Using the power of the PS2 to back this truly unique title, RPG Maker offers everything players could need to bring their own fantasy gameworlds to life."

RPG Maker has been slated with a fourth quarter 2002 release date.
