Square releases financial information
Square has officially announced their financial statement for the term ending March 2002. Failure of its Final Fantasy motion picture cost the company 16.5 billion yen, however, software sales helped move the company into the black with a 4 billion yen profit (compared with a 2.6 billion yen loss from the previous term). Final Fantasy X for the PlayStation 2 has contributed to the profit greatly with 4 million copies shipped (2.48 million in Japan, 1.46 million in North America). Kingdom Hearts also shipped 600,000 copies, helping in the overall scheme of things. Sadly, over a 50% decrease was experienced in revenue from last year's term.
Square also stated that Final Fantasy XII for the PS2 is likely to be released next year in Japan. No further details were given at the time, but we'll continue to cover the story.
