Australian Sony Pirate Arrested

In the Broken Hill area of Australia, a 41-year-old pirater of movies and video games has been arrested. He is being brought up on charges of illegally copying DVDs and well over 100 PlayStation games, and he will be appearing in a local court on July 18. His hearing will address extreme financial penalties for breaching existing copyright laws. Software piracy is a serious issue that Sony has pursued aggressively, and they will continue to due so thanks to a string of high-profile legal battles regarding modchip use in that region. Whether the man is believed to be involved in a counterfeit software production business, or simply possessing pirated materials is undetermined at this time.
