Midway Ships MLB SlugFest 2003

The outlandish baseball simulator MLB SlugFest 20-03 for the PS2 has begun its shipping to retailers in America today, as announced by Midway. Created by the same developers responsible for NFL Blitz, SlugFest brings the same type of adrenaline-style, over-the-top gameplay of Blitz, but this time, it's in a Major League Baseball game featuring players, teams and stadiums. Opting for outrageous gameplay instead of realistic simulation, gamers can expect monstrous defensive and offensive plays, blistering pitches and throws, and heroic diving catches brought on by ridiculously large and muscle-bound athletes. Later this summer, Xbox and GameCube will be receiving their own versions, and so will the GBA following in the fall.

Player animations in MLB SlugFest 20-03 are reported to be unparalleled thanks to advanced motion-captured technology. Each player's facial expressions and reactions will be clearly detailed due to this new process. Every little animation, such as chewing gum to talking to each other and cheering on fellow teammates, will be remarkably precise. Gamers can step up the plate and rip gigantic blasts that will easily clear the park.

Five-time MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers will adorn the box of MLB SlugFest 20-03, provide other advertising materials, and add to the game's authenticity. As his seventh full Major League Baseball season, the shortstop also provided the development team with consultation. A "hard-rockin', new millennium" version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" has been provided by Roadrunner Record's recording act Dry Kill Logic to accentuate the game's aggressive attitude and extreme style of play. Expect MLB SlugFest 20-03 to be a baseball game you've never expected or played before.
