Sony increases PS2 production
Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that it will be increasing production numbers of their next-generation console to meet expectations predicted this fall and holiday season. The Playstation 2 will receive high demands in both North America and Europe, as production continues to be high in Japan. Earlier this year, Sony was producing 1.5 million units per month and will now up that figure to 2 million units a month. According to analysts of the idustry in Tokyo, the PS2 could even hit the 3 million mark by fall. With news of this, shares of Sony rose nearly 3 percent in Japan this morning.
"We plan to take full advantage of this holiday season and increase production accordingly to meet demand," stated Katsurayama-san.
