Sony highlights first quarter profit
Sony announced today a first-quarter profit of $432.5 million (51.9 billion yen) regardless of the apparent falling value of the yen. The main source of these profits can be attributed to Sony's strength in the movie industry and their electronic business. Sony's game operations profited $21.7 million (2.6 billion yen), compared to 3.1 billion yen being lost last year. 20 million and 236 million units of hardware and software shipments, respectively, were the main goal for the Sony company, as it was met the preceding year.
Sony slightly adjusted their future earnings expectations due to the yen's progressive decline. We'll keep you posted on more financial articles.
