Eidos removes online feature from TimeSplitters 2
Eidos officially announced today that their upcoming Playstation 2 title TimeSplitters 2 will no longer support online play. As it was, the PS2 version was the only game expected to receive the online feature, as both the Xbox and GameCube titles were not expected too.
"We had always hoped to include an Internet online component in the PlayStation 2 version of TimeSplitters 2," said an Eidos representative. "However the infrastructure is not yet in place that will enable us to incorporate an online element and still make the game's proposed release date. We certainly don't want to delay the release of one of the year's most anticipated games and as a result disappoint the many fans who are eagerly awaiting the game."
Although this is certainly disappointing news, those PS2 owners who still decide to pick up the Sony Network Adapter will receive extensive multi-player options. TimeSplitters 2 will allow eight consoles to be connected with a total of 16 players available. The Xbox version offers up to eight players, with the GameCube allowing 4 players.
