PS2 to expand PS2 in Europe
At the European Computer Trade Show (ECTS) today, Sony announced their plans to release 5.8 million Playstation 2 consoles by the end of the year. If these projections go through, Europe is expected to see the total number of PS2s hit 14 million shipped; these figures include the Middle-East, Australia, and England. It seems the European market is the main focus of Sony this week, especially noted with the ECTS and price cuts announced for both the Xbox and PS2 in that area. Also, the European videogame market is looking at growth figures of more than 28 percent over past years and is expected to see 100 million euros be spent in accordance with advertising by Sony. An estimated 200 million euros will be used to promote the console and games through March 2003. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
