Dakar 2 coming to the PS2

Acclaim Entertainment announced today that it will be releasing Dakar 2 on all next-generation consoles. The game is the sequel to last year's PS2 title Paris-Dakar-Rally and hopes to be a vast improvement from it predecessor. Players will be able to compete in a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Also, Acclaim is stating that Dakar 2 will feature full damage modeling for all the vehicles and will effect the handling of driving while damaged. Acclaim is even promising a huge variety of environments including towns in France, Spain, and Morocco.

"Dakar 2 is a totally new game rather than a simple improvement on the original," said Ned Browning, European brand manager at Acclaim. "Dakar 2 will provide a distinctive gameplay experience that really challenges the player and will offer a unique and exciting alternative to the traditional formulaic rally game."

Dakar 2 is currently scheduled for release on all next-generation consoles in February 2003.
