Sony sells almost 1,000,000 PS2 units in three days.
After only being on the market for 3 days, Playstation 2 has completely destroyed all record numbers in sales including the one held by Sega's Dreamcast. Selling 980,000 units in Japan within three days is something that has never been done before and might not happen for a long time in Japan. Just to take the Dreamcast for example, a little over 200,000 units were sold in the first two weeks, even after Sega's huge marketing campaign.
The dramatic demand occurred due to the great leaps that have been made over previous systems in the video gaming systems. This really makes competition stiff, Nintendo as being the last company to release their system, "Dolphin" it will take them a miracle in order to exceed PS2's record breaking sales. At this point it will be very tough for Nintendo and Sega to compete in this industry which was quickly taken by Sony. The next big thing to happen for the Playstation 2 is the release in North America, Europe, and countries around the world.
