Sega classics coming to the PS2

  Sega and D3 Publisher announced at a press conference in Tokyo that they will be bringing classic Sega titles to the PS2. Set currently for the Japanese market, the games will be included in the "Sega Ages" series. The games will retail for 2500 yen each and will feature some of Sega's most renowned games. The list of titles is as follows;

Summer 2003

  • Space Harrier (1985, arcade)
  • Fantasy Zone (1986, arcade)
  • Phantasy Star (1987, Master System)
  • Golden Axe (1989, arcade)

Future Releases

  • Monaco GP (1979, arcade)
  • Alex Kidd in Miracle World (1986, Master System)
  • Gain Ground (1988, arcade)
  • Bonanza Brothers (1990, arcade)
  • Streets of Rage (1991, Genesis)
  • Phantasy Star 2 (1989, Genesis)
  • Virtua Racing (1992, arcade)
  • Phantasy Star: End of the Millenium (1993, Genesis)
  • Last Bronx (1996, Saturn)

  Along with simply porting the games to the PS2, 3D-Ages will be improving gameplay, graphics, and sound. No word has been given on whether the series will be available in the US, but we at PSX Extreme are confident that the series will be coming to North America at some point.
