Pro Race Driver ships

Codemasters announced today its latest racing title, Pro Race Driver, has shipped to retailers for the Playstation 2. The game features a narrative character-based storyline, with more than 40 detailed cars and 38 licensed tracks to provide extreme realism. Taking on the first-ever title "CarPG", players assume the role of aspiring test driver Ryan McKane, who desires to make it in the racing industry.

Codemasters explains, "The game features the Finite Element Modelling (FEM) damage engine, which accurately simulates the deformation of a car's structure over the duration of an impact, calculating how both the internal structure and outer bodywork of the cars react. This physics based approach gives unparalleled realism with different impact results every time depending on the exact conditions of the collision."

Also, the game's sound track, cinematic cut-sequences, in-game engine, and crash sounds are available through Dolby's technology. Codemasters believes they have gone the extra effort in providing a realistic, entertaining title, as Pro Race Driver should now be available for the PS2.
