Triple Play is loooong gone
EA Sports announced today that the existence of Triple Play is no more. The previous title of EA's baseball games has been replaced by MVP Baseball. The 2003 version will be available next spring for the Playstation 2 and will completely overhaul the game engine famous to the Triple Play series. MVP Baseball 2003 features new pitching and batting mechanics with a new interface as well. Pitches are measured by power and release point, so don't expect the insane numbers of homeruns this year around.
The Franchise mode for this new title also improves upon the EA baseball series, as players highlights the ability to hire and fire managers, rookie drafts, player development, and career ending injuries. EA has brought together Torii Hunter, Trot Nixon, Todd Pratt, Eric Chavez, and Tim Hudson to help in realism, with Giants' announcers Mike Krukow and Duane Kiper to contribute commentary. Look forward to more information on this game, as it may finally offer some level of competition in the field of baseball simulation.
