Smaller stores playing in the Playstation 2 battlefield.
Unfortunately, there's more bad news for gamers expecting to purchase Playstation 2 in the near future. Due to the drastic shortage of units, an electronics retailing chain in the Northeast has stated they are having to purchase ten to twenty units of software for each Playstation 2 unit they receive, if they are to be assured any of the systems at all. Different retailers are dealing with the shortage in different ways. Some plan to package four to five titles with the system, while others plan to simply increase the price of the console itself by up to a whopping $100.
