Final Fantasy X-2 Released in Japan

Square announced today the official release of Final Fantasy X-2 in Japan. The game is a sequel to the highly popular FFX and has received very favorable reviews thus far. Also, in a recent interview FFX-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase talked about the chances of Final Fantasy X-3 going into development anytime soon. Kitase stated this possibility is very unlikely, but reiterated the point that FFX-2 is a very new concept compared to previous games in the Final Fantasy series.

"In making the Final Fantasy series, we've had a lot of challenges, but there's also been points where we had to stay conservative," Kitase said. "X-2 has been a change for us since it's [the first time a game in the series has been a] sequel, so we took the opportunity to do a lot of things that we usually hold back on."
