Le Tour de France: Centenary Edition Announced:

   Konami of Europe announced today that Le Tour de France: Centenary Edition is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 2. The racing game will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the tournament with a 2003 release later this year. Centenary Edition will feature officially endorsed teams and riders, with six authentic tracks.


   The official teams will include Team Telekom, US Postal Service Presented by Berry Floor, Team CSC, Crédit Agricole, Sidermec, Once--Eroski, Fassa Bortolo, Cofidis, le Crédit par Téléphone,, Kelme--Costa Blanca, Quick Step--Davitamon, and Lotto--Domo. Official riders incluide Roberto Heras, Tyler Hamilton, Christophe Moreau, Stefano Garzelli, Joseba Beloki, Michele Bartoli, David Millar, Francisco Mancebo Pérez, Oscar Sevilla, Richard Virenque, and Robbie McEwen.


   Centenary Edition will feature a career mode, along with arcade, time trial, and two-player head-to-head modes. The career mode has players assume the role of a rookie cyclist who must win races for training, sponsors, and prize money. Konami of Europe claims the game will include a new pedaling system that uses stamina and body position as factors.


   Le Tour de France: Centenary Edition is scheduled for release in Europe later this year. No official release date has been announced for North America, but we’ll keep you updated.
