Vivendi Acquires Cold Winter
Vivendi Universal announced recently that is has acquired the publishing rights to Cold Winter. Developed by UK-based Swordfish Studios, the game is a first-person shooter and allows players to assume the role of a secret agent. The story focuses on global espionage and consists of thirteen single-player missions. Cold Winter features eight environments, ranging from a Chinese prison to the cities of Cairo and Hong Kong. There are over 30 weapons in the game, as players are able to combine items to create various weapons, traps, and tools.

"Cold Winter combines the grim and gritty gameplay hard-core gamers have come to expect with a storyline reminiscent of contemporary spy thrillers."
"With Cold Winter, our goal is to deliver the most complete and immersive experience possible in an FPS game by creating the ideal balance between technology, storyline, and gameplay," said Julian Widdows, development director for Swordfish Studios.
Cold Winter is scheduled for release Q3 2004 on the Playstation 2 and Xbox.
