E3 2003: SCEA To Release Stand-alone USB Headset
With voice communication becoming a new feature in many online sports games this year, Sony Computer Entertainment America will be releasing a stand-alone USB headset in September for $30. Although the functionality of this USB headset will be the same as the one that came packed in with SOCOM last year, this new headset has been slightly redesigned for comfort and boasts a mute button, volume controls, and a better boom microphone.
Aside from SOCOM 2, which is due in November, other games have been announced which will also utilize voiceover IP (or voice chat). Some of these games include Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, NFL GameDay 2004, NBA ShootOut 2004, NCA GameBreaker 2004, Madden NFL 2004, NBA Live 2004, and other EA Sports titles for this season.
The headset will also be compatible with Konami's newest music game, called Karaoke Revolution, which is due later this year.
