E3 2003: Konami Games Report
Konami of America today released a full slate of games that are in development and being showcased at E3 this year. Here's a quick rundown:
AirForce Delta Strike (Release: November 2003)-- This is the first AirForce game from Konami to see release on the PS2 and boasts 20 unique pilots, a lengthy campaign and storyline, dogfighting, and more.
Bloody Roar 4 (Release: November 2003)-- Bloody Roar returns to the PS2 with 17 fighters and a new character customization mode.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (Release: November 2003)-- Leon Belmont, the "first" Belmont, sets out to rescue his love from Dracula's castle in a new 3D adventure. (Editor's Note: There's also a separate news story on this game which was posted earlier. Read it now!)
DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution (Release: September 2003)-- New tunes, new game modes, same addictive gameplay.
Firefighter F.D. 18 (Release: February 2004)-- An interesting storyline surrounds and drives this action game.
Frogger's Adventures: The Rescue (Release: November 2003)-- Yet another adventure starring gaming's most popular amphibian. (Editor's Note: And you thought only cats had nine lives?)
Gradius V (Release: Winter 2003)-- Finally, a new shooter for the PS2... and this one's in 3D!
K-1 World Grand Prix (Release: July 2003)-- What better way to spend the dog days of summer than by pummeling your friends? 20 real-life fighters, complete with motion captured signature moves, stand ready to obey your commands.
Karaoke Revolution (Release: November 2003)-- We've danced, played guitar, rapped, but now... we get to sing and be graded on it! (Editor's Note: I'm first in line for this game. Don't laugh at me!)
McFarlane's Evil Prophecy (Release: November 2003)-- This game is based on Todd McFarlane's Monsters line of toys. Hmmm...
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Release: 2004)-- Apparently, Snake goes back to his roots in this highly anticipated next installment of the MGS series. (Editor's note: The extended trailer is jaw-dropping... I still can't find words. It's THAT good.)
Silent Hill 3 (Release: August 2003)-- Time to get freaked out again. New characters and weapons are slated for introduction. (Editor's note: There is a demo of this game on Sony's latest Jampack, if you want to see what the fuss is all about.)
So, as you can see, Konami is certainly throwing a lot of support towards the PS2 in the months to come. Castlevania looks awesome, and the wait for MGS3 is going to be excruciating. Look for more coverage on these games as more info becomes available, and start saving your money.
