E3 2003: Tony Hawk's Underground Debuts At E3
Activision has unveiled the next game in the Tony Hawk series, and it's not quite what you'd expect. Tony Hawk's Underground sports a much different premise than we've seen in the series so far. Players are basically given the task of creating themselves and then making a name for themselves in the skating world. It's an interesting departure, to be sure.
Other interesting aspects of the game include being able to map a digital photo of your face onto your skater (possibly with the newly-announced Eye Toy) and the ability to do more than just skate with your character. Running, climbing, and traversing ledges are just some of the things that players can do to find some great skate spots. The series' Create-A-Park feature also looks to be expanded to include buildings and other larger objects.
There aren't very many concrete details on this game, but it is being showcased at E3, and it's created some buzz on the show floor. We'll try to get more info as we go forward, hopefully including some kind of release schedule.
