E3 2003: Jak II Hands-on Impressions

Jak II was one of Sony's biggest highlights at the show. First look at the game proves Jak II is arguably the most gorgeous platformer across any console. The game controlled superbly well. The existing control scheme of Jak and Daxter is retained in Jak II, but enhancements were made. The gameplay itself was as solid as it could be. Instead of worrying about collecting artifacts, Jak II's primary emphasis is action -- and lots of it.

The addition of weaponry to Jak II adds a whole new level of enjoyability to the game. The action is well done, and can often get pretty addictive. I spent about 30 minutes at two different Jak II kiosks, both of which had completely different levels playing. The level design is nothing short of amazing. Not to mention, the A.I that inhabit your surroundings, be it foe or friend, is very smart. Look for more Jak II in the future. At the moment the game is set to release sometime before Autumn.
