E3 2003: Mega Man X7 Hands-on Impressions
Mega Man X7 was arguably Capcom’s best showcased title – that and Viewtiful Joe. The game was all about action, and it was incredibly enjoyable too. In the E3 demo, you were able to play as Zero and as an unknown character who bears somewhat of a resemblance to Mega Man himself. The game is a visual mixture of 3D exploration and 2D platforming. The controls are pretty tight, which was a relief. The 2D elements were reminiscent of Contra: Shattered Soldier, though at the same time, holding their own with the classic Mega Man feel. Mega Man X7 is pretty addictive, as well.
The mixture of visual perspectives really adds a refreshing element to Mega Man X7. Much like previous Mega Man games, X7 also boast a pretty interesting story, which escapes my overloaded sense right now. All in all, Mega Man X7 will surely please fans of the Mega Man franchise. It’s scheduled to ship around October time, so look for it then.
