E3 2003: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Hands-On Impressions

Electronic Arts set a strong trend last year with Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and has continued its strong way with Return of the King. The game allows you to play as six characters, including Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. The graphics are beautiful and are updated even farther from the previous addition. Player models are extremely detailed and depict characters with ease. I was very impressed with the feel and atmosphere of the game and would recommend the game to any fans of the Lord of the Ring series or anyone looking for an intense action-adventure game.

LOTR: Return of the King has excellent control while navigating through the journey of your character. Battle sequences are nicely executed and have the basic feel of last year’s title. The number of enemies on the screen at once is amazing and there is never an amount of slowdown while playing. The story appears to be very in-depth and precise early on in development, so expect Return of the King to be absolutely brilliant when completed. The amount of action and excitement in the game is nicely compensated with small objectives that correlate with the storyline. The game itself really got me excited about the upcoming movie again and the overall emotion in the game is just outstanding. I seriously expect Return of the King to outdo the success of The Two Towers from last year, so stay tuned for more information, as we will continue to follow this anticipated title.
