Sega and EA Considering Collaboration

According to Reuters, Sega is considering an offer from Electronic Arts to collaborate in North America. Sega hopes to improve its poor performance in the United States, which has been due in part by the efforts of EA Sports. Also, Sega has officially ended any merger negotiations with both Namco and Sammy Corporation. In attempts to rebuild the company's credibility, Sega has replaced Hideki Sato with senior officer Hisao Oguchi as president.

"We have been badly beaten in the North American consumer video game market," Oguchi said. "If we can't resolve this on our own, then it's better to join hands with someone."

Microsoft is still rumored as a possibility for Sega as well, but there has been no official statement made by either company. PSX Extreme will keep you updated in the weeks to come.
