TimeSplitters is ready for shipment and will be in stores by October 26th.
Eidos recently announced that their much-anticipated first-person shooter TimeSplitters is ready for shipping and is set to be in stores on Playstation 2's launch date. The game has gone gold, and looks to be one of Playstation 2's biggest titles in its launch season. The title owes its gameplay to the fact that it's being developed by former Goldeneye staffers, and third party developer Free Radical design. The title, because of the influence of the ex-Goldeney designers, has a heavy multiplayer focus; as the game particularly emphasizes four player action.
Mike McGarvey, the COO of Eidos Interactive, had this to say about the development, "We're extremely excited about the praises TimeSplitters has received." He added, "Combining old-school twitch gaming with the processing power of the Playstation 2, Free Radical has given the gaming community a gem of a launch title, and we're pleased to come out of the gate so strong." Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64 inspired some of the most obsessive practice ever seen in a videogame so that rapt gamers might master the multiplayer mode, and the resulting bragging rights on a 128-bit version of this gameplay will certainly prove to be even more satisfying.
