Champions of Norrath Announced for the Playstation 2
Sony Online Entertainment announced recently that Snowblind Studios (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance) is developing Champions of Norrath for the PlayStation 2. The game is an action RPG with single and multiplayer modes. Based on the EverQuest universe, Champions of Norrath will support four players simultaneously, similar to the online service found in the upcoming strategy game Lords of EverQuest. It will also have custom characters, including a barbarian warrior, a dark elf shadow knight, a high elf cleric, an erudite wizard, and a wood elf ranger. Traits of these characters can be changed, such as hair, skin, and tattoos, while players can also utilize the thousands of items featured in the game. Also, Champions of Norrath will have numerous magical items to combine in attempts of increased weapon ability and armor; 50 side quests are present in the game as well.
"Champions of Norrath is a brand-new franchise for Sony Online Entertainment, bringing our unique fantasy universe to PlayStation 2 gamers in an exciting, action-packed role-playing game," said Don Vercelli, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Sony Online Entertainment. "Not only does the game have a deep single-player campaign, but it also includes a free online multiplayer component, allowing up to four friends to adventure together using their own Internet connections."
Champions of Norrath is scheduled for a fall release.
