Sega Announces R&D Reorganization and New AM2 President
Sega today made a couple of corporate announcements.
First of all, there are plans to reorganize Sega's internal development houses. The number of studios will be reduced from nine to just five after the reorganization is complete. The hope is to streamline development operations and pool resources to produce more notable releases. No other details are concrete, including which studios are to be absorbed, but the reorganization is slated to begin sometime in October.
Secondly, Sega announced that AM2 has a new president: Hiroshi Kataoka. Kataoka has been a part of more than a few Sega arcade releases, including Space Harrier and Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. Kataoka was promoted from his post as AM2 director, and has been with AM2 since 1991.
