EA Unveils NFL Street for 2004
Electronic Arts today officially announced NFL Street, which is due out early next year. EA Tiburon, the development team responsible for EA's NCAA Football and Madden NFL series, will be developing this street-style football game.
The game will feature 7-on-7 gameplay, as players will be able to show their style with big jukes, behind-the-back passes, and more. There will be no penalties, and no kicking-- that means no punts, kickoffs, or field goals. Over 300 NFLPA players will be available to choose from in order to make your own unstoppable football team, and that includes NFL legends like Barry Sanders. Players will also not wear helmets in the game, and their style will be totally player-customizable.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis had this to say about NFL Street:
"The NFL STREET franchise represents the game we all played as kids taken to the next level," said All-Pro Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. "We all want to play on both offense and defense in a wide-open, no holds barred game. NFL STREET is football the way players want to play -- it's our game."
It will be interesting to see if EA Tiburon can do for football what has already been done for basketball in the NBA Street series. We'll be watching it.
