Playstation Meeting 2003 Details
Sony Computer Entertainment announced recently a list of figures and future plans during its PlayStation Meeting 2003. For the fiscal year of 2002, 97 million PlayStation units were sold along with 53 million PlayStation 2 units worldwide. SCE has stated that the first half of 2003 has been somewhat slow due to the lack of blockbuster titles released, but is optimistic about this coming fall and winter. The company spoke with certain publishers and advised possibly releasing more top-quality games in the summer to avoid profit loss during the strong release periods.
Upcoming releases were highlighted during the Playstation Meeting 2003 and included the online title Biohazard Outbreak from Capcom, which currently has a late November release date. Namco revealed an odd game where objects roll into a ball, pick up items, and eventually get larger; the untitled game has not been given a release date yet. Another game titled Sengoku Musou was announced by Koei and takes place in medieval Japan (March
release). Lastly, Final Fantasy XII was confirmed to be in development and producer Yasumi Matsuno claims that the game will be different from all others in the series. No screenshots or details were given at this time. Stay tuned for more information as we will keep you updated.
