989 Studios ready to bring NBA ShootOut 2001 to the Playstation.
Today, Sony announced that the latest installment of the popular NBA ShootOut series has shipped, and will hit retail stores very soon. The game, being developed by 989 Studios, is said to be the most comprehensive edition of the popular series ever. Some examples: the game features over 400 motion-captured animations, tweaked gameplay dynamics, additional camera angles, and commentary from Ian Eagle; the commentator for the New Jersey Nets. The new title also includes 29 NBA teams, authentic playbooks straight from the league, and digitized arenas in which to launch jumpers with the pros.
"By delivering the most realistic basketball action for the Playstation game console, NBA ShootOut 2001 will earn the respect of NBA fans and gamers alike,"' stated Ami Blaire, the director of product marketing for SCEA. Blaire added, "Filled with a host of new features, the redesigned game engine will make it a can't-miss hit with all basketball fans."
The new installment of the popular series has several new features, including an impressive fifty signature dunks, 450 authentic NBA plays, an exciting create-a-dunk mode (oh boy, I could I have some fun with this mode), polygonal players in appropriate proportions, an impressive 100 hours of commentary, as well as an innovative touch shooting system.
The latest installment of the popular hoops franchise will retail for U.S.$39.99. This title looks fairly impressive thus far, and the new features said to be incorporated into this title could very well solve the problem of innovation (or lack thereof) that has plagued the series in recent installments.
