Sony brings the Playstation2 to China
Reports by the Shanghai Daily indicate that Sony is very close to releasing the Playstation2 in China sometime this year. According to Sony's Shanghai Division, "We are likely to introduce the PlayStation 2 and related games in the domestic market [sometime before the end of] our fiscal year of 2003, which ends on March 31, 2004."
Hiroshi Shoda, chairman of Sony China, stated, "It is anticipated that revenues generated from our operations on the Chinese mainland would reach about $4 billion by the fiscal year of 2005 and probably double...by 2008." Additionally, Sony feels that China is likely to become their second largest market behind the United States by 2008.
