Shinichi Okamoto resigns

It was officially announced by Sony Computer Entertainment that Shinichi Okamoto, chief technology officer for Sony, has resigned. Okamoto was responsible for the Playstation2's online plans, and while no official reason for his resignation has been given, Sony claims that Okamoto may yet continue to work for the company in some as of yet unspecified capacity

In addition to Okamoto's work on broadband operations for the Playstation2, he was also a part of developing the technology for Sony's upcoming console, the Playstation3. Also, at this time there are rumors circulating that Okamoto may soon announce his own independent online venture.
