Sony announces their choice for the PlayStation 2's Internet access.
Representatives from SCEI today announced that Access' NetFront software has been selected to be the main Internet package to be featured on the PlayStation 2. NetFront will produce a version specifically designed for PlayStation 2 with broadband access which will be available to gamers next spring on a CD-ROM format. Access has also been a major player in network gaming projects for both Sega and Nintendo in the past. Sony seems to have taken a major step in realizing its promises of the Internet, and it should prove very interesting to see what Sony does to weld this technology with the impressive processing power of PlayStation 2. Only time will tell if Sony will deliver on this situation.
