Final Fantasy XI Already a Hit
Square Enix U.S.A., Inc. has stated that its PlayOnline service has now surpassed 500,000 registered users for Final Fantasy XI in North American and Japan combined. The massively multiplayer game was released for the PC on this continent on October 28, 2003, while the PlayStation 2 version is scheduled for a May, 2004 release stateside. Square Enix added that the total online community population (number of online characters) is at “nearly” one million. These are very impressive numbers indeed, and they will no doubt grow even larger with the large Square fanbase on the Playstation 2 logging on this spring.
