Acclaim signs a commentator for All Star Baseball 2002.
Today Acclaim signed a deal with newly named manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Bob Brenly will be doing the color commentary for Acclaim's All-Star Baseball 2002, which will be released next Spring in 2001 for Playstation 2. With this announcement Bob Brenly is now the very first active team manager to provide color commentary to a videogame. Along side of Brenly will be his former FOX Sports and Diamondback's play-by-play colleague Thom Brennaman. Here are a few quotes from the meeting today: "We are pleased to be the first baseball title to offer color commentary by a current Major League manager," stated Michael Jerchower, director of licensing for Acclaim Sports. "Bob's broadcast style and managerial insight will greatly enhance the presentation and authenticity of our product."
"I am thrilled to join the Acclaim Sports team and help make All-Star Baseball 2002 the premier PlayStation2 baseball title for next spring," said Brenly. This new team seems to be a great new beginning for Acclaim's newest baseball title on the PS2. I'm really looking forward to this game, as it looks to be the very first PS2 baseball game. Remember folks, All-Star Baseball is the only game endorsed by Derek Jeter, who is the only baseball athlete to be named MVP of the World-Series and All Star game in the same year. All Star 2002 will feature superb baseball physics, realistic visuals and some of the most intuitive gameplay thus far seen in a baseball game. Currently the game will have pretty much no competition seeing as how Sega's baseball game was a pretty big flop. Once again, All-Star 2002 will be available this Spring 2001, I'm guessing around spring training.
