Lara Croft's Creators Form a New Company

Jeremy Heath-Smith and Adrian Smith have announced the formation of a new game development company entitled Circle Studio. Heath-Smith, formerly the global head of development for Eidos and a founder of Core Design, creator and developer of the Tomb Raider series, stepped down from those two companies last summer, as tensions rose over a late release of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness and a subsequent lukewarm reception from gamers.

Circle Studio has recruited 35 former Core employees to work for it, and is currently working on a pair of prototypes. It expects to develop for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox while also preparing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2 consoles. Adrian Smith has taken on the role of development director, while Heath-Smith is managing director.
