Take Over NASA

Towson, Maryland-based GRS Games is developing a videogame that will allow players to assume the role of NASA’s chief administrator. Entitled SpaceStation: Sim, the title is due out for the PlayStation 2 and PC platforms by the 2004 holiday season, and will have gamers create astronauts, and then manage their activites and personal relationships a la The Sims. The astronauts will face “mission critical situations, including micro meteor strikes and decompression while conducting micro gravity experiments and dealing with hilarious but troublesome space tourists shipped aboard by the Russians.”

GRS notes that the Space Act Agreement allowed it a “flow of information from, and access to” NASA. “The assistance and support we are getting from NASA is invaluable and the enthusiasm of NASA personnel has been great. There are lots of game players at NASA and they are eager to help us,” stated Bill Mueller, president of GRS Games.
