Final Fantasy X details announced.
Today, Hisashi Suzuki of Squaresoft released a statement as to the company's plans for the much anticipated PlayStation 2 RPG, Final Fantasy X. Suzuki-san commented that the first quarter will prove very important for Sony's new 128-bit system. Square has also stated its belief that it would be in the best interests of the PlayStation 2 for third party developers to truly showcase the console's technical power within ten months of the system's launch.
In response to this, Square and SCE have recently announced a marketing blitz to hit in Q1 of 2001. Important, high profile games that are set to hit the market which support Squaresoft's theory include Gran Turismo 3, The Bouncer, Onimusha, and possibly Final Fantasy X. The game is scheduled to be released by March 31st, and there are no plans to change this date. However, if the company experiences developmental setbacks, there is a possibility of a second quarter release.
