FF XI Marketing News

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has released details on the multi-million dollar marketing campaign designed to pump up Square Enix Co. Ltd.'s’s Final Fantasy XI for the PlayStation 2. Due out March 23, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game will be offered solely as a pre-installed application on the long-awaited PS2 hard drive, for a suggested retail price of $99.00.

A national TV ad run began on March 8 and will run through March 28, touting the “power and depth of the Final Fantasy XI community.” Spots will air on the major networks as well as on 23 cable channels. Print and online advertising will run through June, with runs in the typical gaming publications, plus books such as SPIN, Blender, Wired and ToyFare. SCEA added that major national retailers will back the product with “extensive” Point-of-Purchase displays and advertising.
