MGS 3's Combat Revealed
Konami of Europe has revealed more details regarding Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater. The game will utilize a new close-quarter combat (CQC) system that will allow players to use hand-to-hand combat against opponents. The CQC system was developed with the aide of Motosada Mori, the military advisor for the Metal Gear series.
While playing, the CQC system is activated if players enter a combat scenario while either unarmed, or equipped with a knife or handgun. This new element in the Metal Gear Solid series will allow players to take down enemies with authentic military moves and techniques. This is a welcome change from the use of handguns, which tend to alert the enemies to your presence.
Team Kojima has been using motion capture session to ensure they get the CQC moves to look just right. Motion capture is also being used to make sure that the effects of in-game explosions on enemies are realistic. Expect to hear much more about this title as E3 draws closer.
