E3 2004: Devil May Cry 3 Impressions
After a not so impressive sequel, Dante returns for the third time. But he returns in a prequel that takes place sometime before the first Devil May Cry. Fans of the series will be happy to hear that Devil May Cry 3 feels a lot like the original. The controls are as tight as they ever were. Since the game feels so much like the original, it controls exactly like it too, and thatís not a bad thing either. The same stylish action found in the first two has carried over to the prequel, but with the originalís game design in place. The A.I. was just right, and nowhere near as bad as the secondís.
Visually, DMC3 looked pretty solid. Decent texture work and superb character detail can be found when playing the game. Danteís face looked pretty detailed, more detailed than it was in the first, and especially second. The environments also look really nice, especially the in-door areas. From the little game time we got of the game, we came away rather impressed. DMC3 looks to be on track to deliver the goods. As the originator of extremely fast paced and stylish action games, itís good to see Devil May Cry back on its feet again. Capcom seems to be putting some good effort into the prequel; we canít wait to play the final product.
