Barnes and Noble expected to report less than robust PS2 sales.
Despite enormous hype surrounding Sony's powerful PlayStation 2 and expectations of Barnes and Noble themselves, a Reuters article has released a prediction stating that the vast shortage of PlayStation 2 units may be a detriment to sales in the retail stores.
As such, Wall Street Analysts are projecting a five cent loss on average for the high-profile retail chain; this information according to the financial research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.
On the whole, shops that sell computer and entertainment software are projected to lose a significant 16.8% in earnings for the quarter. Despite the grim outlook from industry analysts which stemmed from the PlayStation 2 situation, titles like Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver could rebound the company's sales.
It's not all bad for Barnes and Noble however, as the company's bookstore sales are projected to increase 5.6% for the third quarter. The financials for Barnes and Noble are expected to be reported on November 16.
