Global Folktale from Idea Factory is confirmed for the PlayStation 2.

Idea Factory recently announced their plans to develop Global Folktale, a real-time strategy RPG, for the Japanese PlayStation 2. The title's plot is chiefly set in a divided continent in which the animals have captured the land. In response, the humans retreat to a distant refuge, where they cast a spell over their new home that grants them protection from the insanity outside of their sanctuary.

The first sparks of Global Folktale's adventure are set off in a simulation mode. In simulation mode, the gamer is to select characters and equip them with armor, eventually sending the newly armed fighters into battle formations. Once the gamer reaches the field map, the game will display numerous routes and locations. In order for Global Folktale to progress into battle mode, the gamer must select one of these locations. As for the visuals, everything is to be done in polygonal 3D. Breaking from the RPG norm, Global Folktale will boast real-time battles, and in them, gamers have the option of either assigning the characters with pre-set commands or moving them the old-fashioned way.

Global Folktale's Japanese release has not been revealed, and despite the early promise of the game, no US plans have been scheduled.
