PlayStation 2 to receive MTV Music Generator.
Codemasters recently announced that the company has obtained the global licensing rights to MTV Music Generator. Now that Codemasters has obtained the rights to the music creation system, it will be featured on Sony's PlayStation 2 sometime in 2001. Further implications of the deal are present for MTV, as new marketing opportunities have surfaced as a result for the major brand.
Jeremy Webster, Codemasters' business affairs manager, had this to say about the announcement, "MTV is one of the world's strongest brands. As a license, it embodies music entertainment, and using it as a headline property in the US last year, the product became a tremendous success." He elaborated, "As our award-winning music music software is enhanced to take advantage of the power offered by the PlayStation 2's hardware, the use of the MTV brand will be a major strength in our global marketing for MTV Music Generator."
Jester Interactive, the same development firm responsible for the PlayStation version, will be handling MTV Music Generator for the PlayStation 2.
