PlayStation 2 sales show signs of cooling down.
According to analyzed sales data extracted from 3500 Japanese retailers, the PlayStation 2 is in the midst of a 24.6% drop in total hardware sales in only the previous two weeks. A further blow to Sony's blazing pace came from the GameBoy Color, as the portable unit took the number one spot in terms of hardware sales. Furthermore, Sony's PSOne has outsold its 128-bit counterpart, as it snatched the second highest sales total. A further boost to Nintendo came recently in that the company's Nintendo 64 hopped 6%, and at number four, Nintendo's aging console is creeping a bit closer to the PlayStation 2.
