Tekken 4 to drop by March?
Before Namco has even had time to enjoy the fruits of its labor from the acclaimed brawler Tekken Tag Tournament, there is already talk of the development of Tekken 4. According to reports from Japan, the development for the latest installment in the aging series has already begun. Even more surprising are reports that indicate that the title could be released as soon as March of 2001.
Furthermore, it's expected that Tekken 4's storyline will be set shortly after the time of Tekken 3's resolution. Unfortunately, Namco of America would not confirm these reports, but it's expected that details on the issues will come forth as Tekken 4's reported release schedule creeps toward the immediate future.
One of the major criticisms of the recent Tekken Tag Tournament was that the game was too similar to Tekken 3, and therefore did not include enough originality to keep the classic series fresh. This will be an important issue for Namco to address for Tekken 4's development if the company wishes to keep the critically acclaimed series in a favorable light with critics, as well as with the gaming public.
