Shining Tears Coming Stateside
Sega of America announced today that they will be localizing and releasing Shining Tears, an action role-playing game that made its debut at this week's Tokyo Game Show.
Shining Tears is an action RPG in the vein of Shining Force. The game will feature real-time battles, multiple endings, 50+ hours of game play, and will allow multiple players to join in the story mode via split-screen play.
The story takes place in the continent of Entias, a once-peaceful nation now engulfed in a civil war. The hero is a 17-year-old swordsman named Xion, who wakes up in a jail cell suffering from amnesia. Xion busts out of the clink and seeks out his lost memories while diving headlong into the conflict.
Battles are fought in squads. You can send up to two other troops into battle with Xion. During the battle, players control Xion, while the other characters are controlled by the computer or other players using additional controllers. A number of companion characters are possible, including a 117-year-old elf hunter named Elwing, a 17-year-old priest named Ryuna, and a 45-year-old wolfman named Volg.
Shining Tears for the PS2 will ship this Spring.
