Sony considering AOL for PS2 online services.
The Wall Street Journal has recently reported a curious move from Sony, saying that the company is in the early stages of negotiations with Internet giant America Online Inc. Sony evidently hopes to slate AOL's service for the PlayStation 2's upcoming online capabilities.
The WSJ elaborated, stating that the two companies have plans of packaging preinstalled AOL software with PlayStation 2 units.
There is a twist in this situation, however, as WSJ continued to comment on the possibility of a competition between Sony and AOL as the former company continues to pursue the online market. Such a competition would obviously make such a business deal between the two companies impossible.
