PS2 News: E3 2005: The World Returns in .hack//G.U.

E3 2005: The World Returns in .hack//G.U.

If you can’t get enough .hack, then this announcement will make you smile. Bandai announced today that a new addition to the franchise, called .hack//G.U., will be released in 2006 and a teaser trailer will debut at E3.

Cyber Connect 2, the development team behind the initial 4-part .hack series, will handle the same duties here. Also returning are Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and Kazunori Ito; Sadamoto was the character designer for Evangelion and contributed designs for .hack, while Ito wrote Ghost in the Shell and developed the storyline for .hack.

The original .hack series sold a collective 1.7 million copies worldwide, and Bandai is betting on more success with this game. We’ll bring you more details on this story as they become available.
